Eaton’s new innovation centre will concentrate on digital technology for distributed energy resources

Eaton has inaugurated its newest global Innovation Centre in Brossard, Quebec, near Montreal, after nearly four decades of producing software in the region. Eaton will expedite research and development of distributed energy resource (DER) technologies that enable sustainable electricity for industry, buildings, residences, and the electric grid in the 35,000-square-foot area. The most recent Eaton Innovation Centre focuses on developing advanced solutions to optimise DERs by bringing together professionals from many disciplines including cybersecurity, software, human-centred design, and automation.

Eaton will maintain its long-standing partnerships with ÉTS Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal, Université de Sherbrooke, McGill, Université Concordia, Université de Montréal, and others to expand the industrial workforce. Many of Eaton’s employees in the area are graduates of these schools. In Canada, Eaton maintains a network of manufacturing facilities that produce medium- and low-voltage power distribution equipment for industrial, commercial, and residential applications. According to reports, the company is focused on developing new solutions that enable consumers to preserve resources, reduce emissions and energy consumption, and make informed energy decisions – all while boosting safety, dependability, and resilience.
