Ryder System, Inc. has announced the installation of its first BrightDrop Zevo 600 electric vans at four critical Ryder locations in California, Texas, and New York. The addition of BrightDrop’s electric vans to Ryder’s rental fleet is a step forward in the company’s continuous efforts to fulfil increased demand for and adoption of commercial electric cars in the United States. Ryder stated earlier this year that it intends to add 4,000 BrightDrop electric vans to its fleet by 2025, with the first 200 ordered this year. Ryder organised “Ride & Drive” events for customers to showcase the BrightDrop vans as well as ChargePoint EV chargers to introduce these new EVs into the Ryder fleet.
Ryder sites in Southern California (Santa Fe Springs), Northern California (Hayward), Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas (Saginaw), and New York (Long Island City) now rent BrightDrop Zevo 600 electric vans. The BrightDrop Zevo 600 electric van has a range of up to 250 miles and a payload capacity of 1,460 to 2,450 pounds. BrightDrop’s electric light commercial van has a cargo capacity of 615 cubic feet and combines the benefits of an electric motor with significant cargo space. “Electrifying commercial fleets can reduce operating emissions without sacrificing range, safety, or performance,” BrightDrop’s chief commercial officer, Steve Hornyak, stated. “By adding BrightDrop EVs to its fleet offerings, Ryder is helping make electrification possible for companies big and small.”
BrightDrop Zevos and other EV choices are available for rent through the Ryder rental fleet, which offers vehicle insurance, 24-hour roadside assistance, single-source maintenance, and geotagging for tracking and monitoring vehicle usage. ChargePoint, a developer of networked hardware and software solutions for charging EVs, powers the charging infrastructure within Ryder facilities, and public charging stations give accessible charging choices, allowing for longer travels and greater flexibility. Ryder introduced RyderElectric+, a new turnkey EV fleet solution, earlier this year. The new package guides consumers through the EV environment and includes electrification experts, leased vehicles, charging, telemetry, and maintenance all for one low charge.
