Platinum Tooling has hired a new sales manager.

Frank Twomey has been named regional sales manager at Platinum Tooling. In his new position, Twomey will be in charge of all activities in eighteen states in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeast areas of the United States.

Twomey’s background includes work in the aerospace, medical, machine tool, cutting tool, metal, and composite industries. His technical skills include programming CNC machines with Mastercam and Alphacam CAD/CAM software, as well as PLC programming. Frank researched and received training in lean manufacturing, value stream mapping, ISO processes/audits, OSHA compliance, cost reduction, facility/line set-up, and operator training throughout his career.

After graduating from Piedmont Technical Institute in 1991, Twomey’s first employment was as a machinist at Ross Industries. He then went on to work as an applications/service/quality engineer at Walter Grinders and SCM Group. He began his career as an applications and service engineer before becoming the CNC manager of Euro-Composites Corporation and, eventually, the plant manager of MTEQ. Twomey was appointed district sales manager for OSG USA in 2015. Twomey got various sales certifications while continuing his education in 2020.
