Opto 22 has been named a solution partner by Inductive Automation

Opto 22, a California-based industrial automation and IIoT manufacturer, established a new, upgraded collaboration position with Inductive Automation as a Solution Partner. Opto 22 was a long-time participant of the Ignition Onboard Programme and was one of the first hardware firms to include Inductive Automation’s Ignition software in its industrial edge devices. With the end of the Onboard Programme, Opto 22 joined Inductive Automation’s Solution Partner Programme, reinforcing the two firms’ connection.

Opto 22 will continue to supply packaged solutions as a Solution Partner, giving clients the option to purchase its edge devices with Ignition Edge pre-installed. Inductive Automation’s Ignition Edge is embedded into the groov EPIC edge programmable industrial controllers (GRV-EPIC-PR1 and GRV-EPIC-PR2) and the groov RIO (GRV-R7-MM2001-10) edge device. Ignition Edge is intended for devices at the network’s edge. It’s a stripped-down version of Ignition that includes an unlimited number of tags, drivers for third-party PLCs, and a range of data-transfer protocol options. For example, using Ignition Edge, groov EPIC or groov RIO can enable data buffering, publish and subscribe to data via MQTT, and provide a remote alarm.

Opto 22 groov products with Ignition Edge are used in:

  • Remote monitoring and management
  • Connecting to cloud services
  • Computing at the periphery
  • Applications involving brownfields
