Methods Machine Tools, Inc. Names a New CEO

Methods Machine Tools Inc., a leading provider of precision machine tools and automation systems, announces the appointment of Richard Alton as chief executive officer, effective immediately. Alton will take over the management of Methods Machine Tools Inc.’s nine direct offices across the United States, as well as its nationwide distribution network.

“Rick is a long-time sales executive and general manager with a track record of leading profitable growth in industrial capital equipment businesses in the U.S. and abroad,” says Methods’ owner and chairman, Scott McIver. “His track record of successfully leading high-performing sales, service, and product management organisations comes at a critical juncture in our ambitious growth plans.”

Alton has been the CEO of Manitou Americas and head of the Compact Equipment Products Division since 2017, overseeing the company’s manufactured construction and material handling equipment division. Prior to joining Manitou, Alton worked for JLG Industries, an Oshkosh Corporation firm, for 19 years, including 15 years in sales and sales management, where he helped expand the company’s international business. He also assisted in the development of and later served as general manager of, JLG’s strategic collaboration with Caterpillar.

“I am thrilled to be taking the helm at Methods and working with such a talented and dedicated team,” adds Alton. “The company’s history has long revolved around premium machine tools, industry-leading automation and engineering, and exceptional customer service.”

“There are significant opportunities to grow our machine tools business across North America while broadening automation and product lifecycle management capabilities,” he adds. Most importantly, we make a daily commitment to keeping our customers at the forefront of new, innovative, and more productive production methods. I’m looking forward to getting my hands dirty, meeting our staff and customers, and working together to achieve a bright future.”
