Canada increases domestic manufacturing in order to develop an EV and semiconductor supply chain

Southern Ontario has evolved as a significant centre for automotive manufacturing and research, particularly in the electric vehicle (EV) sector. FBT Inc., a family-owned advanced manufacturer of precision machine components and parts used in critical sectors such as automotive, defence, EV, semi-conductor, power generation, and others, has received a nearly $4 million investment from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).

As the demand for domestic manufacture of EV, energy, and semiconductor-related products in Canada has increased, FBT is modernising its facility to satisfy the needs of both new and existing clients. This includes implementing new robotic and automated technologies that will build procedures that will increase machine component and part manufacturing by 75%. FBT will be able to fulfil its rising orders, generate 40 skilled jobs, and support domestic manufacturing capacity for southern Ontario’s leading EV manufacturers as a result of this investment.

“The manufacturing industry in Ontario is the engine that propels our national economy forward.” “Our government is investing in the people who run it,” said Filomena Tassi, Minister in charge of the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario. “By making smart investments in manufacturers like FBT Inc., we are collaborating to help these businesses grow, resulting in good-paying jobs for our communities and a healthy environment for future generations.”
