Hexagon, a global leader in measurement and industrial technology, today announced the launch of AEON, a state-of-the-art humanoid robot, at its flagship Hexagon LIVE Global event. Developed by Hexagon’s dedicated Robotics division, AEON is designed to tackle real-world challenges, from skilled labour shortages to operational efficiency, across multiple industrial sectors.
AEON integrates Hexagon’s renowned sensor technologies with advanced AI-driven mission control, sophisticated locomotion, and spatial intelligence. The result is a highly agile, autonomous robot capable of performing a wide range of industrial tasks — including manipulation, asset inspection, reality capture, and operator support.
“Hexagon’s legacy in precision measurement and sensor technologies has always been about enabling next-generation autonomy,” said Ola Rollén, Chairman of the Board at Hexagon. “AEON is a leap forward — an industrially bespoke humanoid designed for impact. It represents a major milestone in our goal to help customers achieve sustainable growth in the face of demographic and economic change.”
AEON’s capabilities make it especially suited for industries such as automotive, aerospace, transportation, manufacturing, logistics, and warehousing. Hexagon is already partnering with industrial leaders Schaeffler and Pilatus to pilot AEON in machine tending, part inspection, manipulation, and digital twin generation.
“With AEON, we are advancing physical artificial intelligence to solve real operational problems,” said Arnaud Robert, President of Hexagon’s Robotics division. “We’ve received strong interest from industry leaders and will begin deploying AEON in real-world production environments over the next six months ahead of a broader commercial rollout.”
Pilatus, a leading aircraft manufacturer, and Schaeffler, a global motion technology company, are among AEON’s first industrial collaborators.
“AEON’s unique mobility and onboard intelligence offer a powerful platform for automation and digital transformation,” said Roman Emmenegger, VP of Manufacturing at Pilatus.
Sebastian Jonas, SVP of Advanced Production Technology at Schaeffler, added: “We are excited to explore AEON’s potential in driving productivity and innovation in our factories.”
To bring AEON to life, Hexagon has partnered with NVIDIA, Microsoft, and maxon. AEON leverages NVIDIA’s accelerated computing, Omniverse platform, and Jetson modules, Microsoft Azure for scalable AI development, and maxon’s next-gen actuators for advanced locomotion.
