GROB Boosts Mindelheim Facility with €80 Million Investment

GROB-WERKE GmbH & Co. KG is investing €80 million to expand its Mindelheim location, strengthening its capabilities in electromobility and advanced manufacturing. The project includes a 30,000 m² production hall, a third energy center to enhance heat supply using renewable energy, and a six-level car park with over 1,500 spaces. The new Hall 15 A/B will house GROB’s e-mobility and battery systems process technologies, featuring an integrated office space and canteen. This investment underscores GROB’s commitment to growth and innovation, aligning with the increasing demand for battery systems and sustainable energy solutions.

Construction of the new production hall is on track for completion by October 2024, adding substantial capacity to accommodate customer orders, particularly in the battery systems sector. The third energy center will play a pivotal role in ensuring energy security by generating heat through renewable resources and enabling GROB to produce its own electricity through a combined heat and power plant. This development is part of a broader corporate strategy to decentralize the company’s energy supply, with construction starting in late 2024 and expected to be finished by the end of 2025.

Additionally, the new car park, which began construction in June 2024, will help alleviate parking congestion for GROB’s growing workforce. While the first stage includes 1,575 spaces, further expansions are anticipated to meet future demand, with the total requirement estimated at 4,000 spaces.

This significant investment reflects GROB’s long-term strategy to enhance its production capabilities, strengthen its energy independence, and provide modern infrastructure to support its employees and growing operations. By focusing on both cutting-edge technology and sustainable energy solutions, GROB continues to solidify its position as a leader in the manufacturing industry, especially in the rapidly growing electromobility sector.
