Dugard recently announced the successful installation of two Hanwha sliding head lathes for a customer in Scotland, showcasing the Hanwha XD38II-H and XP26S models. These machines are designed to enhance efficiency and precision in Swiss machining applications.

The Hanwha XD38II-H, known as “The Powerhouse,” boasts a maximum machining diameter of 38mm. It is equipped with a sub-spindle and can handle up to 26 tools, facilitating complex, single-hit machining operations. The machine is optimised for 24-hour unattended operation, featuring high-pressure coolant and advanced software, making it ideal for continuous production environments.

Complementing this is the Hanwha XP26S, referred to as “The Speed Specialist.” It offers a maximum machining diameter of 26mm and features high-performance 8,000 RPM main and sub-spindles, ensuring rapid cycle times for smaller and intricate parts. Its compact design incorporates a 17-tool layout, maximising throughput while occupying a smaller production footprint.

Both machines are equipped with PCRIII Chipbreaking solutions, which effectively maintain and maximise runtime, especially when working with challenging materials known to cause issues in sliding head lathes.

Dugard invites those interested in sliding head technology or experiencing issues with current sliding head machines to visit their stand at Southern Manufacturing, stand G310, for further insights and discussions.

This installation further solidifies Dugard’s commitment to providing cutting-edge machining solutions. The company continues to support the manufacturing and engineering sectors with robust, innovative equipment tailored to meet the rigorous demands of modern production facilities.
