Sheffield-based window, door and conservatory fabricator Ford Windows has procured a new larger manufacturing facility in Glasgow to cope with its expanding business.
The opening of the new factory will create approximately 70 additional jobs at the site at Blantyre.
Ford Windows currently employs over 200 people across its headquarters in Sheffield and current manufacturing facility in East Kilbride with a target to increase this over the next few years.
Founded in 1976, Ford Windows currently operates primarily in the new build market, supplying a number of prestigious housebuilders which includes Barratt, Taylor Wimpey, Miller Homes and Persimmon.
The new site will help meet the rising demand for its key products, including bi-fold doors and Eurocell’s Modus system, as its manufacturing capacity expands from 12,000 sq. ft to 22,000 sq. ft. Ford Windows, which sources its PVC-U profiles and doors from Eurocell, will now be able to double its output.
Philip Shackley, managing director at Ford Windows, said: “The expansion of Ford Windows’ outfit will allow us to meet the rising demand we have experienced for high-quality PVC-U windows, doors and conservatories. At Ford Windows, we work with the customer from the consultation and initial design stage, right through to the installation and aftercare of the products we supply. This full cycle service has allowed us to retain existing work whilst also expanding our client base significantly. Our new premises will provide us with the facilities we need to realise our ambitious growth plans and expand even further.”
Ian Kemp, sales director at Eurocell, added: “We have worked with Ford Windows for many years and the team there exemplifies everything we look for in a partner. With a passion to grow and an understanding of what the market requires, we look forward to continuing working with Ford Windows as it grows.”
