By Tom Skubala
Italy – MTDCNC’s Tom Skubala and Chris Thomas have arrived in Italy as part of their ongoing European road trip with the SMW Autoblok Group, following two successful and insightful days at SMW-AUTOBLOK Spannsysteme GmbH in Germany.

During their time in Germany, the team gained a detailed understanding of SMW AUTOBLOK’s products, manufacturing capabilities, technological innovations, and strategic position within the global manufacturing industry. Working alongside Marcel König, Alexandra Bernhard, and Larry Robbins, the visit provided a valuable opportunity to see first-hand the engineering expertise and innovation that continue to drive the company forward.
With the company motto, “Always a Step Ahead,” SMW AUTOBLOK demonstrated its commitment to developing advanced workholding and automation solutions that help manufacturers increase productivity, improve efficiency, and remain competitive in an evolving marketplace.
The next phase of the journey takes the MTDCNC team to Italy, where they will join Larry Robbins to explore the origins of the business and gain a deeper understanding of the history behind one of the world’s leading workholding solution providers.
The visit will include tours of key facilities, discussions with company leaders, and exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the technologies, processes, and people that have helped establish SMW AUTOBLOK as a globally recognised name in manufacturing.

Throughout the trip, MTDCNC is capturing a series of exclusive interviews, factory tours, and technical features that will provide manufacturers around the world with a unique insight into the innovation and expertise behind the SMW AUTOBLOK brand.
MTDCNC would like to extend its sincere thanks to Alexandra Bernhard and Marcel König for their hospitality, support, and generosity throughout the German leg of the tour. Their efforts played a significant role in making the visit both productive and memorable.
Further content from Italy will be released across MTDCNC’s digital platforms in the coming weeks.
