Hotman Launches New Vertical Non-Circular Grinding Machine Series with NUM CNC Technology

Guangdong Hotman Machine Tool Co., Ltd, a leading Chinese manufacturer of high-precision grinding machines, has successfully launched a new series of vertical non-circular grinding (NCG) machines, powered by advanced CNC systems and NUMgrind software from NUM. This milestone represents a major advancement in the company’s pursuit of innovation and high-efficiency manufacturing.

Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Dongguan, Hotman has become a dominant player in China’s grinding machine sector. Its wide-ranging portfolio includes nearly 100 models across 12 different grinding categories, with a strong emphasis on R&D and cutting-edge design.

The collaboration between Hotman and NUM began in 2018 and intensified following the DMP Shenzhen 2021 trade fair. At the time, Hotman was seeking an advanced CNC solution for non-circular vertical grinding — one that went beyond powerful control hardware to include intuitive, application-specific software.

NUM delivered with its Flexium+ CNC platform combined with NUMgrind, a versatile software solution designed for high-precision grinding applications. This technology combination became the foundation for Hotman’s new Z850 vertical NCG machine, enabling highly accurate and consistent grinding of complex workpieces.

“The Z850 is a breakthrough in vertical non-circular grinding,” said Mr. Zeng, Chairman of Hotman. “It’s ideal for intricate components such as camshafts and eccentric parts. With NUMgrind, our operators can now easily create complex programs using the import cross-section profile function — greatly simplifying a once time-intensive process.”

The deployment of NUM’s system proved to be both fast and seamless. The complete solution — including CNC hardware, software, integration, and commissioning — was implemented in just two months, allowing Hotman to drastically reduce development costs and bring the Z850 series to market in record time.

The new machine not only enhances productivity but also offers exceptional programming flexibility, helping Hotman extend its market reach and customer base. As a result, the company has fortified its position as a technology leader in the grinding machine industry.

This successful collaboration underscores the value of integrating high-performance CNC systems with application-specific software. With NUM’s ongoing support, Hotman is now better equipped to pursue future innovations and expand its footprint in global precision machining markets.
