Last week, MTDCNC had the pleasure of visiting Bloom-in-Box Ltd (BIB)—a forward-thinking, family-run injection moulding company that’s redefining what it means to manufacture responsibly.
Specialising in components for the health & wellbeing, security, and household sectors, Bloom-in-Box combines traditional values with modern thinking. What sets them apart isn’t just what they make—but how they make it. With a strong commitment to sustainability, their site runs on daytime energy independence powered by solar panels ☀️ and operates a closed-loop plastic waste system, ensuring that material efficiency and environmental care go hand-in-hand.
During our visit, we were particularly impressed by Bloom-in-Box’s investment in next-generation technology. The company has embraced electric injection moulding with the addition of three FANUC ROBOSHOT machines. These industry-leading systems use 50–70% less energy than traditional hydraulic models—making a significant impact on both energy usage and cost-efficiency.
One standout performer is their ROBOSHOT S150iA, which has consistently demonstrated its superiority by using 33% less power than other all-electric machines within the facility. It’s a powerful example of how choosing the right technology can support both performance and sustainability.
Beyond the machines, what struck us most was the mindset at Bloom-in-Box. Their drive for continuous improvement, environmental responsibility, and thoughtful automation speaks volumes about their vision for the future. From the warm hospitality to the meaningful conversations, it’s clear that this is a team not only passionate about their craft—but about doing things the right way.
