DWS Engineering invested in their first Citizen machine 4 years ago, a 2001 Citizen Cincom L32, which at the time helped transform their business with their main trading business now being Historic Threads. Last year they went back into the used market place and purchased a 2001 Citizen M32, a bigger machine with more functions, both machines have been kept running with excellent service & support from Citizen Machinery. However as David Swaffield from DWS Engineering tells MTDCNC’s Colin it was time to move the business up a level and buy something new. A Citizen L32 Type VIII LFV was duly purchased; a 32mm bar sliding head machine with a 38mm expansion kit. The LFV (Low Frequency Vibration) chipping software has been excellent at eliminating the birds nesting. The machines are very simple to set up and can be used to produce as few as 10 parts in a very short time turnaround. Another ‘driver’ for the new machine was the Staple Driver, DW Engineering’s new retail product. With their main business producing imperial measurement nuts, bolts and threaded complex parts DWS Engineering are well placed for the future with their Citizen sliding head machinery.
