Konecranes expands APAC footprint with acquisitions in Thailand and New Zealand to strengthen service capabilities
Konecranes has expanded its industrial services presence in the Asia-Pacific region through the acquisition of Ex-Kcranes in Thailand and Trimate Industries Ltd in New Zealand. The transactions, completed in the first quarter of 2026, are part of the company’s strategy to strengthen regional service capabilities and enhance proximity to customers in key industrial markets.
The acquisition of Ex-Kcranes adds a strong local service footprint in Thailand. Based in Rayong along the country’s eastern seaboard, the company provides industrial maintenance and service solutions to customers across Thailand and neighboring Laos. Its established customer relationships and regional expertise align well with Konecranes’ focus on delivering responsive, localized service support in high-growth markets.
In New Zealand, the addition of Trimate Industries further strengthens Konecranes’ position in a mature and service-driven market. Trimate is a supplier of crane components and spare parts and also acts as a distributor for Demag equipment. The company’s strong installed base and technical capabilities provide Konecranes with enhanced access to customers requiring ongoing maintenance, repair and lifecycle services.
Together, the two acquisitions contribute annual revenues of approximately €2.5 million and add around 20 employees to Konecranes’ global workforce. While relatively modest in scale, the strategic importance lies in strengthening the company’s regional service network and improving its ability to respond quickly to customer needs.
The expansion supports Konecranes’ broader strategy of building a service-led business model. By enhancing its presence in both emerging and developed APAC markets, the company aims to deliver more comprehensive maintenance, inspection and modernization services. This localized approach helps reduce response times, improve equipment uptime and support customer productivity.
In addition to physical service capabilities, Konecranes continues to integrate digital tools and advanced technologies into its operations. These solutions enable predictive maintenance, real-time monitoring and data-driven decision-making, helping customers optimize equipment performance and reduce operational risks.
The acquisitions also align with the company’s commitment to improving safety and sustainability in material handling operations. By providing modern service solutions and upgrading existing equipment, Konecranes helps customers meet stricter safety standards while reducing environmental impact.
As industrial activity continues to grow across the Asia-Pacific region, demand for reliable service and maintenance solutions is increasing. With these acquisitions, Konecranes is positioning itself to better serve customers across diverse markets, from rapidly developing industrial zones in Southeast Asia to established infrastructure in New Zealand.
Overall, the move reflects a targeted and strategic approach to expansion—focusing on strengthening service capabilities, enhancing customer access and building a more resilient and responsive regional network.
