Seco Introduces TS0501 Finishing Grade for Extended Tool Life in Aerospace Applications!

Seco has launched the TS0501 Duratomic finishing grade, engineered for high-performance turning of modern high-hardness superalloys as well as established materials such as Inconel 718. The new grade is designed to deliver extended tool life, superior surface finish and consistent reliability, particularly in demanding aerospace and energy sector applications.

The TS0501 grade is optimized for high-precision finishing of heat-resistant superalloys, where dimensional accuracy and surface integrity are critical. Built on Seco’s Duratomic coating technology, the insert offers enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability. These characteristics help maintain cutting-edge integrity even under the elevated temperatures and mechanical stresses common when machining advanced aerospace materials.

Developed with lights-out machining in mind, TS0501 supports stable and predictable performance in unmanned operations. Its advanced edge geometry enables consistent chip control and surface quality, helping manufacturers maintain tight tolerances without frequent tool intervention. This capability is particularly valuable in high-mix, high-value component production environments.
