Tormach Upgrades 770MX CNC Mill with More Power, Faster Motion and Enhanced Usability!
Tormach has introduced the next evolution of its 770MX CNC mill, delivering increased spindle power, faster motion performance and operator-focused enhancements while maintaining the same starting price. The upgraded compact mill is designed for shops, laboratories and workspaces that require high performance within a limited footprint, with a focus on reducing cycle times and improving ease of use.
At the core of the update is an absolute encoder EtherCAT servo motion system paired with an EtherCAT-based control platform for both spindle and axis control. This architecture enables faster, more responsive motion with integrated positional feedback, improving accuracy and repeatability in machining operations.
Spindle performance has been enhanced to deliver 2 horsepower of continuous power and 4.5 horsepower of peak intermittent power. Despite the power increase, the machine continues to operate on single-phase power, making it suitable for facilities without industrial three-phase infrastructure.
Motion capability has also been improved, with maximum feed rates reaching 450 inches per minute in the X and Y axes and 420 inches per minute in the Z axis. The machine retains its compact working envelope of 14 inches by 7.5 inches by 13.25 inches, allowing it to support a broad range of milling applications while fitting into space-constrained environments.
Several quality-of-life enhancements have been introduced to improve operator experience. A 21.5-inch PathPilot touchscreen console is now included as standard, providing an intuitive interface for machine control. Built-in load meters for both spindle and axes allow real-time monitoring of cutting conditions. Additional updates include an integrated front-mounted air gun, improved side-loading windows for easier access, a standard door latch and mounting provisions for tool holder racks and Wall Control-compatible storage systems.
The 770MX is offered in two default configurations. Customers can select a factory-assembled version equipped with an automatic tool changer and flood coolant system, or opt for a self-assembled configuration delivered in components for on-site assembly.
With these upgrades, Tormach’s 770MX CNC mill strengthens its position as a compact yet capable solution for small shops and advanced prototyping environments seeking improved performance, usability and value.
