CNH Industrial showcased its India-built farm mechanisation portfolio at its advanced manufacturing facility in Pune, underlining the company’s strong research, engineering and production capabilities. The plant develops and manufactures harvesting and crop solutions for both domestic and international markets, reinforcing India’s role in CNH’s global manufacturing network.

Spread across approximately 280,000 square metres, the Pune facility produces a wide range of agricultural equipment, including combine harvesters, sugarcane harvesters, small square balers, tractors, headers, cabs and various implements. The plant is equipped with modern fabrication units, automated paint systems, structured assembly lines and rigorous quality testing processes. It supports mechanisation across diverse crop segments in India while exporting part of its output to overseas markets.

Narinder Mittal, President and Managing Director, CNH India region, stated that the Pune plant plays a central role in the company’s India operations and reflects its long-standing commitment to advancing farm mechanisation. He emphasized that as India progresses toward higher economic growth, improving agricultural productivity and sustainability will depend significantly on wider adoption of mechanised solutions. He added that the company’s sugarcane harvesters, combine harvesters and balers are engineered specifically for Indian soil and crop conditions, offering fuel efficiency, durability and advanced technology.

In 2023, the Pune facility rolled out India’s first TREM-V compliant sugarcane harvester, marking a milestone in emission-compliant agricultural equipment manufacturing. The company currently holds more than 50 percent market share in the domestic sugarcane harvester and small square baler segments and leads the cab combine harvester category in India.

Beyond equipment manufacturing, CNH actively supports skill development and agricultural extension programmes. These initiatives include training in drone applications, digital agriculture tools, sustainable sugarcane cultivation practices and crop residue management, particularly in Maharashtra. The Pune plant is IGBC certified and has received industrial safety awards in 2022 and 2023. It implements energy and water conservation measures aligned with its 2030 sustainability targets and contributes to community development through school infrastructure upgrades and mobile healthcare services.

India’s mechanisation levels remain relatively low, with less than 5 percent penetration in sugarcane harvesting, under 30 percent in grain harvesting and around 2 percent in crop residue management. This indicates significant growth potential for farm mechanisation solutions. The Pune facility is positioned as a key enabler in supporting farmers and agri-entrepreneurs to improve efficiency, productivity and sustainability.

CNH Industrial operates globally through its agricultural brands Case IH and New Holland, while CASE and New Holland Construction Equipment serve the construction sector. Through its Pune hub, CNH continues to strengthen India’s contribution to global agricultural innovation and manufacturing excellence.
