Vedanta Aluminium Strengthens Quality Leadership with 18 BIS Accreditations Across Indian Operations!

Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium manufacturer, has reinforced its position as a quality-driven industrial leader by achieving a total of 18 certifications from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) across its major operations. These accreditations, secured over time, span the company’s Jharsuguda smelter in Odisha—recognized as the world’s largest aluminium production facility—and its Korba-based operations in Chhattisgarh operated by Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO). Together, the certifications highlight Vedanta Aluminium’s sustained focus on product quality, process discipline, and compliance with India’s most stringent regulatory and performance standards.

The latest milestone in this journey is BALCO’s BIS certification for Aluminium Alloy Wire Rods in accordance with IS 9997:2023. With this addition, BALCO has now secured eight BIS certifications, further expanding Vedanta Aluminium’s ability to supply high-specification materials to sectors that are critical to India’s economic and infrastructure growth. Aluminium alloy wire rods certified under the latest BIS standard are designed to meet demanding operational requirements, offering an optimal combination of mechanical strength, electrical conductivity, and long-term durability. These characteristics make them particularly suitable for applications such as overhead power transmission lines, automotive wiring systems, and welding, all of which are integral to the country’s ongoing investments in energy, mobility, and industrial development.

The growing portfolio of BIS-certified products reflects a broader shift within Vedanta Aluminium toward value-added manufacturing. As downstream and specialized aluminium products gain importance in both domestic and global markets, certifications play a vital role in assuring customers of consistent quality, traceability, and regulatory compliance.
