JK Tyre & Industries Ltd has commissioned Phase III of its capacity expansion and modernization programme at its passenger car radial manufacturing facility in Banmore, Madhya Pradesh, significantly strengthening its domestic production capabilities. The newly expanded line was inaugurated by Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, in the presence of Raghupati Singhania, Chairman and Managing Director, and Anshuman Singhania, Managing Director of JK Tyre & Industries Ltd, along with senior leadership from Maruti Suzuki.

With the commissioning of Phase III, the Banmore facility’s daily production capacity has risen to 30,000 passenger car radial tyres, translating to an annual capacity of approximately 10.5 million tyres. The expansion is part of JK Tyre’s multi-phase investment plan exceeding ₹1,000 crore at the Banmore site and reflects the company’s long-term strategy to strengthen manufacturing scale, improve operational efficiency, and support the fast-growing passenger vehicle market in India.

Commenting on the milestone, Dr Raghupati Singhania said the completion of Phase III represents an important step in JK Tyre’s manufacturing roadmap and reinforces the company’s role in supporting India’s mobility ecosystem. He highlighted that sustained growth in passenger vehicle demand has driven JK Tyre’s focus on capacity enhancement, modernization, and technology adoption. According to him, the Banmore plant has been central to the company’s passenger car radial business, and the latest expansion further enhances JK Tyre’s ability to reliably supply original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) as well as the replacement market with high-quality radial tyres.

The Banmore facility has evolved into a strategic manufacturing hub within JK Tyre’s domestic operations. Beyond increasing output, the Phase III expansion incorporates modern manufacturing practices aimed at improving productivity, consistency, and resource efficiency. The plant continues to operate with an emphasis on responsible manufacturing, aligning with JK Tyre’s broader environmental and social commitments.

In addition to its industrial significance, the Banmore plant plays a vital role in regional economic development. The facility supports substantial direct and indirect employment in Madhya Pradesh and has contributed to the growth of the local supplier and service ecosystem. JK Tyre has also been actively involved in community development initiatives around the Banmore region, supporting programmes in healthcare, adult education, livelihood generation, rural infrastructure, and local sports, thereby extending its impact beyond manufacturing.

JK Tyre & Industries Ltd is the flagship company of the JK Organisation and ranks among the world’s leading tyre manufacturers. The company operates 11 manufacturing facilities globally, including nine in India and two in Mexico, all aligned with global sustainability benchmarks. With an annual production of around 35 million tyres, JK Tyre has a long history of technology leadership and was among the first companies in India to introduce radial tyre technology, producing its first radial tyre in 1977.

The commissioning of Phase III at Banmore underscores JK Tyre’s confidence in the long-term growth of India’s passenger vehicle market and its commitment to investing in domestic manufacturing capacity. The expansion not only strengthens the company’s competitive position but also reinforces its role as a key enabler of India’s automotive and mobility value chain.
