Mazak Corp. has expanded its multitasking machine portfolio with the launch of the Integrex i-350S Neo, a highly versatile platform that brings together turning, milling, and grinding operations in a single machine. Building on Mazak’s long-standing “Done-in-One” manufacturing philosophy, the new model is designed to enhance precision, reduce part handling, and improve overall machining efficiency, particularly for complex components that traditionally require multiple machines and setups.

A key advancement with the Integrex i-350S Neo is the addition of grinding capability, marking the first time grinding has been integrated into this class of Mazak multitasking machines. By enabling grinding alongside high-performance turning and milling, manufacturers can achieve tighter tolerances and superior surface finishes without transferring parts between machines. This consolidation not only improves accuracy but also shortens lead times and reduces cumulative error associated with multiple setups.

The Integrex i-Neo Series is engineered with increased thermal stability, an essential factor in maintaining dimensional accuracy during long machining cycles and lights-out production. The i-350S Neo incorporates a robust mechanical design combined with advanced control technologies to ensure consistent performance, even under demanding operating conditions. These attributes make the machine suitable for industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical, and energy, where precision and repeatability are critical.

Automation flexibility is another core feature of the Integrex i-Neo platform. The machine supports a wide range of automation solutions, including overhead gantry loaders, unloaders, and bar feed systems. A standard front-mounted ergonomic tool magazine allows seamless integration with automation while maintaining easy operator access. For shops with different layout requirements, Mazak also offers rear-mounted tool magazine configurations and optional retrofittable automatic front doors and robot interfaces, enabling straightforward integration with floor-mounted robotic systems.

From a mechanical standpoint, the Integrex i-350S Neo is equipped with both a main and second turning spindle, along with a powerful milling spindle headstock. The main spindle supports a 10-inch chuck and provides generous axis travels, including a Y-axis stroke of 12 inches and an X-axis stroke of 27 inches, accommodating parts up to 26.38 inches in diameter. Both turning spindles operate at speeds up to 4,000 rpm, while the milling spindle is available in 12,000 rpm standard and 20,000 rpm optional configurations, delivering high torque and performance for demanding milling and grinding tasks. Depending on bed configuration, the machine can process parts approaching 2.5 meters in length, offering significant capacity for large and complex workpieces.

The Integrex i-350S Neo is powered by Mazak’s latest Mazatrol SmoothAi CNC control, which incorporates artificial intelligence to simplify programming and optimize machining performance. AI-driven functions such as Solid Mazatrol allow automatic program generation directly from 3D CAD models, reducing programming time and potential errors. Smooth Ai Spindle technology dynamically adjusts spindle speed based on sensor feedback to minimize vibration and improve surface finish, while Ai Thermal Shield learns from environmental conditions to compensate for thermal effects and maintain machining accuracy.

In addition, the control provides access to Mazak’s Mazatrol Twins digital twin software, enabling manufacturers to create synchronized virtual replicas of their machines. These digital tools support efficient job planning, setup optimization, and CAM integration, helping shops maximize machine utilization and productivity.

With the Integrex i-350S Neo, Mazak delivers a powerful multitasking solution that combines precision machining, grinding capability, automation readiness, and AI-driven control. The result is a single-machine platform that enhances process stability, reduces production complexity, and supports the evolving needs of high-mix, high-precision manufacturing environments.
