Synopsys and 3D Engineering Launch Engineering Simulation Design Center at MECF to Boost Innovation and MSME Growth!

Synopsys, in partnership with 3D Engineering—an elite Ansys Channel Partner—has inaugurated a state-of-the-art Engineering Simulation Design Center at the MCCIA Electronic Cluster Foundation (MECF) in Pune. This new facility is designed to democratize access to advanced simulation technologies for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), support industrial R&D across India’s Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, and strengthen training ecosystems for engineering students and academic institutions. The center represents a major step toward expanding simulation-driven innovation in electronics and product engineering across sectors such as automotive, aerospace, defense, healthcare and electronics manufacturing.

The Design Center provides users with direct access to some of the most powerful engineering platforms available today, including tools for structural analysis, thermal studies, electromagnetic simulations, and digital twin applications. Equipped with high-performance computing capabilities and licensed Ansys (now part of Synopsys) software suites, the facility enables startups, MSMEs, researchers and students to work with globally recognized engineering workflows and accelerate their product development cycles.

MECF, valued at ₹71 crore, is one of India’s largest Common Facility Centers (CFCs) approved by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) under the EMC Scheme. Developed by MCCIA with support from MeitY and MIDC, MECF serves as a comprehensive hub for product testing, certification and calibration. The addition of the new Design Center further strengthens the regional electronics ecosystem by offering end-to-end support—from conceptual design to validation and certification—thereby reducing product development time and enabling smoother commercialization of indigenous technologies.

The initiative aligns closely with national programs like Make in India and Skill India, helping to cultivate a skilled engineering workforce capable of addressing real-world industrial challenges. By offering students and early-career engineers hands-on experience with advanced simulation tools, the center will help bridge the talent gap and prepare the next generation of innovators for industry requirements.

Speaking at the launch, Mike Yeager, Area Vice President at Synopsys, underscored the importance of democratizing simulation capabilities across India. He noted that the collaboration with 3D Engineering and MECF—supported by MeitY—will empower SMEs, startups and students to actively participate in next-generation engineering breakthroughs. Murali Pullela, Area Sales Director at Synopsys, added that the partnership strengthens India’s electronics ecosystem by enabling faster, more efficient product development aligned with global performance and reliability standards.

Shrikrishna Gadgil, CEO of MECF, stated that the new Design Center reinforces the region’s position as a hub for emerging products and technological excellence. He emphasized that this investment extends beyond infrastructure, fostering talent development and innovation-led growth. Ajay Deshkar, Managing Partner at 3D Engineering, highlighted that combining world-class simulation tools with the creativity of regional innovators will cultivate a thriving engineering ecosystem.

The Design Center will function both as a training hub and an industry consulting resource. Companies will be able to access expert simulation guidance, participate in specialized engineering programs and even receive subsidized access to advanced tools—helping smaller manufacturers overcome barriers to adopting high-end simulation technologies.

With this launch, Synopsys and 3D Engineering have taken a significant step toward empowering India’s engineering community, accelerating product innovation and supporting the growth of MSMEs through cutting-edge simulation capabilities.
