Sunita Tools Limited Expands Production Capacity for Empty Artillery Shells!

Sunita Tools Limited, a renowned name in precision engineering and manufacturing, has announced a major expansion of its production capacity for empty artillery shells. The company plans to ramp up its annual output from 110,000 to 360,000 shells by introducing two new state-of-the-art production lines. This expansion will be completed over the next two years, with the second line expected to go operational within a year and the third line scheduled to launch the following year.

This strategic move comes in response to the growing domestic and international demand for defense manufacturing, particularly in artillery components. Sunita Tools aims to strengthen its market leadership and enhance its competitiveness by combining technological advancement with efficient production processes. A key highlight of this project is the technology partnership with a UK-based company that will assist in the transfer of expertise in press and die design. This collaboration will enable Sunita Tools to implement advanced manufacturing techniques and optimize production for various shell calibers.

Aligned with India’s Make in India initiative, the company intends to source nearly 99% of the required equipment domestically. This not only supports local manufacturing but also ensures cost efficiency and reduced dependency on imports. The total investment for this expansion is projected at around INR 126 crore, which will be financed through a combination of debt, equity, and promoter contributions.

With multiple Letters of Intent (LOIs) already in hand and strong interest from domestic and international clients, this expansion is set to position Sunita Tools as one of the most cost-effective producers in the global artillery shell market. The enhanced capacity will allow the company to cater to a larger customer base while maintaining the high standards of precision and quality it is known for.

Sanjay Kumar Pandey, Whole Time Director of Sunita Tools Limited, expressed confidence in the company’s growth trajectory, stating, “The successful execution of Line 1 has set a strong foundation for our next phase of expansion. Line 2 and Line 3 will be developed with the same focus on efficiency, quality, and innovation. This growth will help us meet rising market demand while reinforcing our leadership in the defense manufacturing segment.”
