Diamond Power Infrastructure Ltd (DPIL), a leading name in India’s power transmission and distribution (T&D) sector, has announced a major milestone with the commencement of commercial production at its second integrated aluminium rod mill under its wholly owned subsidiary, DICABS NextGen Special Alloys Private Limited. The newly inaugurated facility, located at the company’s Vadodara complex, adds a monthly production capacity of 2,500 metric tonnes—or 30,000 metric tonnes annually—further reinforcing DPIL’s strong manufacturing foundation in the aluminium conductor segment.
The new plant is designed to produce AL59 wire rods, an advanced aluminium alloy widely recognized for its superior conductivity, lightweight properties, and enhanced strength, making it ideal for next-generation power transmission conductors. This development not only enhances the group’s overall capacity but also strengthens its ability to serve India’s growing demand for efficient, reliable, and sustainable power infrastructure components.
With this expansion, DICABS NextGen now operates two out of three planned greenfield rod mills at the Vadodara site, bringing the group’s cumulative installed aluminium rod production capacity to an impressive 73,200 metric tonnes per annum. The integration of this new unit marks a key step in DPIL’s broader growth strategy to scale its advanced alloy manufacturing capabilities and cater to both domestic and international markets.
Currently, Diamond Power Infrastructure operates multiple state-of-the-art rod mills across its facilities. The first unit, with a monthly capacity of 1,200 metric tonnes, laid the foundation for the company’s foray into high-quality aluminium rod manufacturing. This was followed by the establishment of DICABS NextGen’s first rod mill, which expanded production to 2,400 metric tonnes per month. With the latest 2,500 MT/month addition, the company’s total rod manufacturing capacity now reaches 6,100 MT per month across all units—a testament to its commitment to continuous innovation and capacity enhancement.
The commissioning of the second aluminium rod mill represents more than just an increase in output. It underscores DPIL’s focus on adopting advanced technologies and sustainable manufacturing practices. Each of the company’s facilities is equipped with modern machinery, precision quality control systems, and energy-efficient operations designed to meet stringent industry standards. This forward-looking approach ensures that DICABS remains at the forefront of India’s evolving energy and infrastructure landscape.
Established in 1992 and headquartered in Vadodara, Gujarat, Diamond Power Infrastructure Ltd—popularly known as “DICABS”—has built a comprehensive presence across the power T&D value chain. The company manufactures conductors, low-, high-, and extra-high-voltage cables, transformers (both power and distribution), and transmission towers. Beyond manufacturing, DPIL also provides EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) services, offering turnkey solutions that cater to utilities, power plants, industrial consumers, and infrastructure projects across India.
By commissioning this new aluminium rod mill, DICABS NextGen has once again demonstrated its leadership and vision in strengthening India’s power infrastructure. As the nation accelerates its transition toward more efficient and sustainable energy systems, DICABS continues to play a pivotal role in powering progress with quality, innovation, and reliability at its core.
