Elgi Equipments, a global leader in air compressor manufacturing with over 64 years of expertise, has introduced its groundbreaking STABILISOR system—a pioneering technology designed to revolutionize compressed air stabilization in industrial plants with dynamic air demands. This patented innovation addresses long-standing challenges of unstable compressor performance, inefficiency, and excessive wear caused by frequent load/unload cycles, enhancing the overall efficiency and longevity of air compressor systems.
In industrial environments, the gap between compressor capacity and air demand is constantly fluctuating, which leads to frequent cut-in and cut-out operations. These operations destabilize the compressor and cause significant wear on critical components, leading to inefficiencies and higher operational costs. Traditional solutions, such as increasing reservoir volumes or adding variable frequency drives (VFDs), often do not solve the underlying issues and may even introduce new inefficiencies.
The STABILISOR system utilizes an innovative ‘Recirculate and Recover’ principle, effectively aligning compressor capacity with the dynamic demands of the plant. This is achieved through controlled recirculation and recovery techniques that stabilize airflow, reduce load/unload cycles, and minimize energy consumption. The system can provide up to 15% energy savings in typical applications while extending the lifespan of compressor equipment and improving overall system reliability. Dr Jairam Varadaraj, Managing Director of Elgi Equipments Ltd, noted that the STABILISOR system represents a significant shift toward energy-efficient and sustainable manufacturing processes that align with global sustainability goals.
The STABILISOR system utilizes precision-engineered valves and low-pressure recovery techniques to dynamically balance airflow, targeting pressure points with minimal differences to prevent energy losses. According to Dr Venu Madhav, Director of Technology at Elgi Equipments, the system’s ability to optimize airflow demands leads to reduced energy wastage and improved system performance.
