Hosted in a COVID-secure environment at our UK headquarters at Ansty Park, Coventry, The Future of Automation Open House will host a series of talks, panel discussions and interviews with some of the leading lights in British industry, tackling the most pressing issues facing UK manufacturers:
- Skills
- The automation outlook for UK manufacturers
- Digital transformation
We will also welcome an extensive array of exhibitors and partners from the across the world of automation. After such a challenging period for UK manufacturing, I personally look forward to welcoming you back.
AUTO-MOULDING: FANUC UK TO HOST DEDICATED AUTOMATION EVENT FOR INJECTION MOULDERS
FANUC UK is set to open its doors to the British moulding market with a dedicated automation open house at the end of September.
The event will be held at its UK headquarters in Antsy Park, Coventry, on 29th September – 1st October, with visitors encouraged to sign-up to specific days to accommodate social distancing measures while on site. More Covid-19 regulations may be in effect at the event in government guidelines and restrictions develop.
Front and centre will be a number of machines from FANUC’s ROBOSHOT automated injection moulding series in operation across several exhibits, covering injection moulding, cobots, IIoT, and FANUC’s wide range of industrial robots.
Tom Bouchier, Managing Director at FAUNC UK, comments: “2020 has been a challenging time for manufacturing, but we know how resilient and adaptable the sector is in the UK. With attention now turning to how automation can be used to facilitate safe working, events such as these are a great way to share knowledge and solutions with one another.
“Our highly versatile ROBOSHOT machine is the perfect example of an automated solution that can boost productivity, precision, and reliability, while simultaneously using less energy than hydraulic machines. Last year, our first ever Open House was a brilliant platform to discuss automation’s role in improving UK manufacturing, and this event builds on that by offering application-specific illustrations of the opportunities there are to improve manufacturing processes.”
The seven injection moulding exhibits will be as follows:
- Exhibit 1 – α-S300iA with M10iD8L 6-axis industrial robot mounted on an automated longitudinal beam from HiTech Automation, to deliver 7-axis operation from within compact footprint.
- Exhibit 2 – α-S150iA with a second SI20iA injection unit supported by a LR-Mate 200iD7L industrial robot and QSSR (Quick & Simple Start-up of Robotization). It will be used to manufacturer an ice scraper, which visitors can take home with them.
- Exhibit 3 – α-S150iAs with RJG Co -Pilot ‘smart’ injection moulding monitoring system, which improves part quality and reduces waste. The cell will be making a mould for mobile phone covers.
- Exhibit 4 – α-S50iA LSR display for proprietary liquid silicone processing, complete with QSSR and LRMate200iD industrial robot for parts handing.
- Exhibit 5 – α-S50iA with compact, modular parts handling solution from HiTech Automation.
- Exhibit 6 – A standalone dual servo electric core power pack which can be interfaced with a ROBOSHOT machine or alternative supplier, to enable end-users to utilise electric motor drive core solutions over traditional hydraulic cores.
- Exhibit 7 – A high-speed carbon take-out cell developed by HiTech Automation in conjunction with FANUC, which can achieve sub 0.35s take-out times.
The event will also include a dedicated collaborative robot area, which will give attendees the chance to get up close and personal with FANUC’s new lightweight cobot, the CRX10iA. Collaborative technology is an area that has received much attention in recent months, and with exhibits including a beer pouring robot, the potential uses of cobots will be on full display.
Alongside ROBOSHOT and cobots, there will be the opportunity for visitors to look at FANUC’s entire portfolio of industrial robots and automation solutions. The IoT Area will display software products such as MT-LINKi, ZDT (zero downtime), and IIoT platform FIELD, allowing visitors to see real-time quality, machine, and order status monitoring of all machines and robot cells.
Tom concludes: “Our hope is that this event will help to demonstrate how automation can help UK manufacturing improve its position in relation to international competitors. With a special focus on injection moulding, it will showcase the latest technology, and ultimately provide a platform for those interested in boosting productivity to explore their potential.”

Metrology and inspection experts from the Coventry-based Manufacturing Technology Centre are hosting a free event aimed at helping manufacturers improve their processes and product quality through the latest metrology technology.
The Focus on Metrology event at the MTC on Wednesday, November 27 will highlight the cutting edge research and innovation in metrology developed by the MTC, its academic partners and leading industrialists. It will focus on the important collaborations driving metrology forward, and measurement and inspection technologies which can benefit of UK manufacturers.
Speakers from a range of sectors will provide an industry perspective on how metrology and inspection techniques are helping to improve competitiveness, processes and component quality.
MTC technology director Ken Young said the event would give delegates the opportunity to see the latest metrology equipment in action at the MTC.
“There will be live demonstrations as well as breakout sessions to hear more from world-leading metrology specialists and equipment providers. Inspection techniques are vital to high value manufacturing and, when implemented properly, can mean that products are safer, stronger and perform better than the competition,” he said.
The event, at the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre, is free to attend but places are limited so registration is vital. Those interested should visit www.the-mtc.org/event-items/focus-on-metrology-2019-the-scale-of-possibilities-for-uk-manufacturers

FANUC Open House 2019
The UK is the only G7 country with a robot density below the world’s average and is 30% less productive per hour than manufacturers in Germany.
How can we improve these statistics and re-position the UK as a global leader in manufacturing once again?
Automation is going to play an integral role in ensuring UK manufacturing is able to compete, yet many manufacturers remain sceptical as to its cost, payback period, and suitability for their applications.
FANUC is inviting UK manufacturers to its first ever Open House event on 29 – 31 October 2019, to help understand the importance of automation, as well as how cost-effective it can be.
Don’t miss out!
