Okuma Unveils Compact MULTUS U1000 and U2000 Machines

Monday 13 July 2026, 10:28:22 AM

Okuma Europe GmbH has launched two groundbreaking multitasking machines, the MULTUS U1000 and MULTUS U2000, designed to offer top-tier performance in a compact form. These new additions set a standard for precision, stability, and automation in the smallest footprints available within their class.

Both machines showcase increased axis indexing accuracy and high rigidity, features which support efficient machining processes for complex components. Equipped with an 80-tool automatic tool changer (ATC) as standard, the MULTUS series is particularly suited for high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments that require advanced modern strategies.

The compact design is key to the machines’ versatility, especially beneficial for facilities facing space constraints. The narrowness of the machine width makes them ideally suited for flexible automation cells. Additionally, these machines enable seamless process integration, delivering high cutting performance and stable precision, even during demanding 5-axis and long-duration machining tasks.

Key features include an automation-ready design, allowing easy integration with robots, gantry loaders, and bar feeders. The flat front facilitates close-range robot placements, optimising space for efficient cell layouts. This innovative approach results in significant reductions in setup times and increased process reliability. The machines promise stable accuracy even during extended unmanned operations, making them a smart choice for smart factories aiming to enhance productivity.

Okuma’s latest developments in the MULTUS series demonstrate a commitment to advancing manufacturing technology by enhancing efficiency and precision while minimising space usage. The MULTUS U1000 and U2000 are poised to transform how critical machining tasks are performed in modern industrial settings.
