Yamaha Brings New Innovations to electronica 2024!

At the electronica 2024 event, Yamaha Robotics introduced cutting-edge advancements in high-speed surface-mount inspection, showcasing their latest AI-enhanced capabilities for applications in LED lighting, e-mobility, and mechatronics. Key innovations included the YRi-V 2D/3D Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) systems and the new VP-01G-Y Solder Paste Inspection system, designed to revolutionize quality control processes in electronics manufacturing.

The YRi-V 2D/3D AOI Systems featured new tools that simplify the inspection of densely packed assemblies, such as automotive lighting, electric drives, and mechatronics components. Enhanced with AI, these systems now enable faster programming and greater accuracy, significantly improving productivity while ensuring quality control. The upgraded YRi-V HS model, with its 25MP camera sensor, delivers more than a 50% reduction in cycle time, making it ideal for high-density applications like server cards, communication infrastructure, and IoT sensors. Additionally, the system integrates laser measurement for precise coplanarity checks, particularly for components like LEDs and chip-scale packages that are difficult to inspect using conventional lighting methods.

Yamaha also presented the VP-01G-Y Solder Paste Inspection System, which checks the volume, shape, and positional accuracy of solder paste before components are placed on the boards. Operating at production line speeds, this system helps optimize print process settings, stencil cleaning, and paste conditions, enhancing the overall efficiency and accuracy of the manufacturing process.

In addition, Yamaha’s 1 STOP SMART SOLUTION was on display, showcasing a comprehensive portfolio of high-speed inline surface-mount equipment, including screen printers and mounters. These machines offer automation features like product-program changeover and stencil changes, making them suitable for both high-mix and high-volume manufacturing. Coupled with the YSUP Smart-Factory Software, which integrates all Yamaha machines and provides real-time monitoring and optimization, Yamaha aims to offer a seamless, intelligent manufacturing solution that maximizes productivity and quality control across the factory floor.

Shuichi Imai, Sales General Manager for Europe at Yamaha Robotics, commented, “Exhibiting at electronica enabled us to meet new potential customers and demonstrate our fast and accurate inspection systems. Our latest innovations provide state-of-the-art quality control that operates at line speed to maximize productivity.” Yamaha Brings New Innovations to electronica 2024
