WFL Millturn Technologies has launched a high-performance angular head designed to enhance productivity, precision, and automation in internal machining applications. The new solution is engineered to enable complex machining operations to be completed in a single setup, reducing cycle times and improving overall efficiency.

Built around an HSK-A32 interface, the angular head features an integrated hydraulic clamping system that allows automatic tool changes directly within the 90-degree head. This eliminates the need for manual intervention and supports seamless integration into automated machining environments. The ability to use standard HSK-A32 tools with adapters further simplifies operations by removing the need for specialized tooling while maintaining full compatibility with the machine’s tool magazine.

The system is capable of continuous operation at speeds of up to 12,000 rpm, supported by an oil mist lubrication system that ensures thermal stability and extends bearing life. Media supply, including hydraulics and lubrication, is delivered through an integrated interface, ensuring consistent performance even in demanding machining conditions.

Designed specifically for internal machining, the angular head improves accessibility to hard-to-reach areas while enhancing chip evacuation and process stability. This is particularly beneficial when machining thin-walled aluminum components, where precision and surface integrity are critical.

When combined with the machine’s B-axis capabilities, the solution enables more efficient machining strategies. For example, internal radii can be machined using larger tools and fewer passes, reducing machining time while maintaining high surface quality. This capability not only improves productivity but also optimises tool usage and process consistency.

By enabling fully automated tool changes and integrating seamlessly into complete machining workflows, the angular head helps reduce setup times and minimise downtime. The result is a more streamlined and cost-effective production process, allowing manufacturers to achieve higher output with fewer interruptions.

Overall, WFL’s latest innovation highlights the growing importance of automation and multi-functionality in modern machining, providing manufacturers with a practical solution for improving efficiency and precision in complex internal machining operations.
