EMCO has once again raised the bar in high-precision machining with the launch of the UMILL 1000, a 5-axis simultaneous machining center designed to bridge the gap between the popular UMILL 750 and UMILL 1500 models. Built for modern production environments that demand precision, flexibility, and compact design, the UMILL 1000 integrates milling and turning operations into a single, highly capable platform.
At the heart of the UMILL 1000 lies a rigid portal structure constructed from cast iron and welded steel, ensuring superior thermal stability and vibration damping. This robust build allows seamless combined operations—turning and milling—on a single machine setup, reducing the need for multiple clamping and ensuring exceptional accuracy. Its 55 mm roller guides on the X and Y axes, along with direct drives in the linear axes and torque drives in the A and C axes, make it an ideal solution for complex and demanding machining tasks.
The UMILL 1000 offers generous travel distances of 900 mm (X), 1,000 mm (Y), and 700 mm (Z), with an impressive A-axis swivel range of ±125° and a workload capacity of up to 1,000 kg. This capability makes it suitable for machining large and heavy workpieces with intricate geometries. The motor spindle, with a speed of 15,000 rpm, delivers a torque of 138 Nm and 38 kW power output, equipped with an HSK-A63 interface for efficient material removal and excellent surface finish.
Productivity is further enhanced by a tool magazine that comes standard with 30 tool positions, expandable up to 60 or 90, offering random tool management for optimized changeover times and uninterrupted machining cycles. The modular and compact design allows manufacturers to handle workpieces up to 1,000 mm in diameter and 600 mm in height within a single clamping, all while maintaining a small machine footprint.
The UMILL 1000 also prioritizes operator comfort and production efficiency. Its ergonomic design, intelligent chip disposal system, and easy maintenance access support smooth operation even under continuous production loads. Additionally, EMCO provides flexible automation options to meet varying production demands.
For precision assurance, glass scales on all linear axes and direct position measuring systems on the rotary axes deliver micron-level accuracy and outstanding surface quality. The direct drives in X and Y axes enable rapid acceleration of 6 m/s² and feed rates of up to 50 m/min, ensuring high-speed dynamics without compromising accuracy.
Operators can choose between Siemens Sinumerik ONE or Heidenhain TNC7 control systems, both mounted on a swiveling, forward-tilting control panel for optimum ergonomics. This thoughtful integration of power, precision, and user convenience positions the UMILL 1000 as a future-ready machining center for industries seeking high-performance 5-axis solutions.
With the UMILL 1000, EMCO continues to push boundaries in multifunctional machining, offering manufacturers a compact yet powerful system that guarantees speed, accuracy, and productivity—all in one intelligent package.
