Tecumseh showcases low-GWP refrigeration technologies and India-manufactured compressor platform at ACREX India 2026!
Tecumseh Products Company LLC is presenting a range of advanced refrigeration technologies at ACREX India 2026 being held from March 12–14 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre. The company’s showcase highlights energy-efficient cooling solutions, environmentally responsible refrigerants and integrated cold chain technologies developed specifically for the Indian market.
India’s refrigeration and cold chain sector is experiencing rapid expansion due to growth in organized retail, food logistics networks and temperature-controlled storage infrastructure. This demand is creating opportunities for advanced cooling technologies that can deliver higher efficiency while meeting environmental sustainability requirements. Tecumseh’s participation at ACREX India reflects the company’s long-term strategy to support this growth through localized manufacturing and technology innovation.
One of the key highlights of Tecumseh’s exhibition showcase is the launch of its TC3 compressor platform, a premium-efficiency product designed and manufactured in India. The compressor range covers capacities from 3 cc to 12 cc and has been engineered to deliver more than 30 percent energy savings compared with earlier product generations. By manufacturing the platform in India, Tecumseh aims to meet rising domestic demand while also supplying export markets across Asia and other regions.
Ricardo Maciel noted that India is among the fastest-growing refrigeration markets in the world. Rapid urbanization, rising consumption of temperature-sensitive goods and the expansion of modern food retail networks are driving demand for reliable and energy-efficient refrigeration systems. According to Maciel, these trends create strong opportunities for technologies that improve performance while reducing environmental impact.
A central theme of Tecumseh’s product display at the exhibition is the transition toward refrigerants with lower Global Warming Potential (GWP). Governments and regulatory agencies worldwide are implementing stricter environmental standards to reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with refrigeration systems. As a result, the industry is moving toward refrigerants that offer lower environmental impact without compromising cooling performance.
To support this transition, Tecumseh is presenting compressors designed to operate with R290, a natural refrigerant based on propane that provides high energy efficiency and significantly lower environmental impact than many conventional refrigerants. These compressors are suitable for a wide range of commercial refrigeration applications including retail refrigeration equipment, cold storage units and food service cooling systems.
Fernando Fischer explained that the global shift toward low-GWP refrigerants is accelerating, with India playing an increasingly important role in adopting sustainable refrigeration technologies. Manufacturers and system integrators are actively seeking equipment that can deliver strong performance while meeting emerging environmental regulations.
In addition to R290-compatible compressors, Tecumseh is expanding its portfolio of products designed for A2L refrigerants. These refrigerants represent the next generation of low-GWP solutions and are characterized by mild flammability combined with improved environmental performance. Tecumseh’s systems incorporate safety-focused design features to ensure reliable operation while maintaining efficiency.
Beyond compressors, the company is also showcasing integrated cold chain solutions including condensing units and optimized refrigeration systems for food retail, cold storage, logistics and food processing applications. These systems are designed to improve energy efficiency and reliability across the cold chain ecosystem.
Tecumseh is also introducing Orion, a new global fractional systems platform designed for a wide range of refrigeration equipment applications. With a compact design and multi-refrigerant compatibility, the Orion platform provides equipment manufacturers with flexible system configurations and scalable supply capabilities.
Through its participation at ACREX India 2026, Tecumseh aims to demonstrate how innovation in refrigeration technologies can support India’s expanding cold chain infrastructure while contributing to global sustainability goals and energy efficiency improvements in cooling systems.
