Sandvik Coromant Expands CoroCut Geometries for Enhanced Chip Control and Increased Productivity!

Sandvik Coromant, a global leader in tooling solutions, has expanded its CoroCut 2 series with two new cutting-edge geometries – GL parting and grooving geometry and an updated -CR parting-off geometry. These new geometries are engineered to enhance chip control in long-chip materials and provide a robust edge for high-feed parting-off operations, significantly improving the efficiency and security of machining processes across various applications.

The CoroCut 1-2 concept from Sandvik Coromant is designed for high-performance cutting with a focus on reliability across a wide range of applications. Building upon this foundation, the CoroCut 2 series aims to further boost productivity by optimizing output while minimizing energy consumption and material waste. This expansion in geometries is particularly well-suited for machining hard-to-chip steels and for parting-off operations that require enhanced edge strength and stability.

The new -GL geometry is equipped with the most aggressive chipbreaker in the CoroCut 2 concept, making it ideal for demanding ISO P components such as low-carbon steel, clean steels, and cold-forged automotive parts. This geometry excels in applications requiring better chip control, ensuring smoother operation and reducing the likelihood of chip tangling. The – GL geometry also enhances operational security, enabling greater automation, which is increasingly critical in modern manufacturing environments.

On the other hand, the updated -CR geometry is specifically designed for parting-off operations performed at higher feeds or during intermittent cutting. It is suitable for a broad spectrum of materials, offering versatility while maintaining a strong edge and a wiper design that ensures smoother cuts. This geometry’s performance is particularly beneficial for achieving high productivity and superior component quality, making it an excellent choice for high-demand manufacturing processes.

Both the -GL and -CR geometries are equipped with Sandvik Coromant’s proprietary rail interface, which ensures a more precise insert position and reduces movement, providing enhanced stability even when side forces are applied. This feature contributes to improved tool life, especially in challenging cutting operations. Moreover, both geometries are produced using Sandvik Coromant’s innovative FlashLight technology, which results in a higher-quality and more consistent edge line, enhancing both the performance and predictability of tool life.

This expansion in the CoroCut series by Sandvik Coromant brings valuable advancements to the manufacturing world, particularly for industries requiring high-strength tools that offer superior chip control, longer tool life, and improved productivity. With the new geometries, manufacturers can now achieve faster, more efficient cutting operations while maintaining the highest standards of component quality.
