SAEL Industries Ltd. has successfully commissioned two large-scale solar power projects with a combined capacity of 600 MW in Andhra Pradesh, marking a significant milestone in India’s renewable energy expansion. The projects, named SAEL Solar MHP1 and SAEL Solar MHP2, were completed in a record timeframe of just 11 months, highlighting the company’s execution capabilities and the growing momentum of clean energy development in the country.

The projects are located in the YSR Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh and are being formally inaugurated by Andhra Pradesh Minister for HRD, IT & Electronics, Nara Lokesh on May 22, 2026. The inauguration ceremony is also expected to be attended by Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi, senior government officials, and SAEL leadership, reflecting the importance of the projects for the state’s renewable energy ambitions.

Developed with an investment of nearly ₹3,000 crore, the two solar projects span more than 2,400 acres and represent one of the most notable renewable energy investments in Andhra Pradesh in recent years. The projects are expected to strengthen the state’s position as a major clean energy hub while supporting India’s broader sustainability and decarbonization goals.

Both facilities commenced commercial operations earlier in 2026. SAEL Solar MHP1 began operations on January 30, 2026, while SAEL Solar MHP2 was commissioned on March 13, 2026. Together, the projects use more than 1.2 million advanced TOPCon bifacial solar modules, a significant portion of which were manufactured at SAEL’s production facilities in Punjab and Rajasthan. The use of domestically manufactured modules highlights the company’s integrated manufacturing approach and its focus on strengthening India’s renewable energy supply chain.

The generated electricity from the projects will be supplied to the national grid under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). This long-term agreement is expected to provide stable clean energy generation while supporting the country’s transition toward sustainable power infrastructure.

From an environmental perspective, the projects are expected to prevent nearly 11 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually, contributing significantly to India’s climate goals and efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. In addition to environmental benefits, the projects have also generated economic opportunities for local communities.

During the construction phase, more than 1,000 workers were employed, with approximately 80% of the workforce sourced locally. The projects have also introduced structured land lease arrangements that are expected to provide farmers with stable long-term income opportunities for nearly 25 years, creating additional economic value for the surrounding region.

SAEL stated that the successful execution of the projects was supported by its integrated engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), and operations and maintenance (O&M) framework, along with close coordination with the Andhra Pradesh government and local authorities.

The projects align closely with Andhra Pradesh’s Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024, which aims to attract investments worth ₹10 lakh crore across renewable energy sectors by 2029. The state government has been actively positioning Andhra Pradesh as a leading destination for clean energy manufacturing, generation, and exports through investor-friendly policies and accelerated infrastructure development.

SAEL Industries currently has a total renewable energy portfolio of 8,299 MWp across solar and battery energy storage projects throughout India. The company is also exploring further investments in renewable energy initiatives, including agri-waste-to-energy projects, as it continues expanding its presence in the country’s rapidly growing clean energy sector.
