FS-Elliott Invests $2 Million in U.S. Manufacturing

FS-Elliott, a global leader in dependable centrifugal air solutions, collaborated with Industrial Engineers to improve its layout design for enhanced efficiency. We increased the manufacturing and storage space to 180,000 square feet after investing $2 million and adding two new Mazak Integrex machines.

With complete 5-Axis capability, the Integrex machines lowered a multi-machine runtime of 6-12 hours to a single machine one-hour per component average. The recent addition of a robotic arm automates the new machining process, making it even more efficient. The robotics system includes a 300lb lifting capacity agile manufacturing robotic arm.

The Mazak Integrex machine cell will replace ageing machinery, eliminate waste stages, and streamline the production process to reduce lead time. This innovative technology can run for up to two 8-hour shifts with minimum operator input. The dual-spindle mill/turn machine centres can convert raw material into a completed item using the Mazak Integrex. Aside from the initial machining process enhancements, the new machines will feature multipart capabilities, which will provide extra capacity support in various cells around the machine shop. The new machine centres completely enable impeller machining, which gives extra efficiency with these products. With the new machine centres’ complete 5-Axis capabilities, FS-Elliott is dedicated to full impeller machining by the end of 2023.
