In a groundbreaking move for U.S. manufacturing, Accurate Metal Products (AMP), a leading steel processor and fabricator, has installed two AI-powered EasyGrinder robotic systems from Dutch automation specialist Teqram. These installations, now operational at AMP’s facilities in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Rockford, Illinois, mark the first deployment of EasyGrinders in the United States — positioning AMP at the forefront of AI-driven metal fabrication.

The EasyGrinders represent a significant step in AMP’s broader digital transformation strategy. Designed to streamline the physically demanding process of cleaning and finishing steel components, these robotic systems not only boost production efficiency but also enhance product consistency, all while supporting the company’s skilled workforce.

“These machines help us maintain the high standards our customers expect, while making life easier for our skilled tradespeople,” said Woody Alverson, owner of AMP. “It’s not about replacing people — it’s about enhancing precision and freeing up time for more valuable work.”

Developed by Teqram, the EasyGrinder system is designed with cutting-edge AI and 3D vision capabilities that allow for fully autonomous operation — without the need for programming. The robot automatically identifies and picks up parts using magnetic grippers, selects the optimal grinding tools through its automatic tool changer, and even flips parts using an integrated EasyFlipper to process both sides. Capable of removing slag and lead-ins, grinding and rounding edges, and cleaning internal diameters, the EasyGrinder delivers exceptional surface finishing across a variety of components.

The system’s intelligent design makes it especially well-suited for AMP, a company known for its vertically integrated services that include oxy-fuel, plasma, and laser cutting, Blanchard grinding, abrasive blasting, and heat treating. With ISO 9001 certification and a strong customer base in mining, energy, agriculture, and defense, AMP is committed to delivering production-ready components with speed and precision.

“This investment reflects our belief that technology and craftsmanship go hand in hand,” said Alverson. “At Accurate Metal, we’ll always prioritize quality — whatever it takes.”

The EasyGrinders were acquired through Automated Fabrication Systems (AFS), Teqram’s official partner for North America, ensuring smooth integration and support for the advanced systems.

By incorporating AI-enhanced robotics into its daily operations, AMP is not only improving manufacturing efficiency but also setting a benchmark for modern steel fabrication. As the first company in the U.S. to implement these robots, AMP is proving that the future of American manufacturing lies in the powerful synergy between skilled labor and intelligent automation.
