MTDCNC and Mastercam UK & Ireland have concluded their two-day manufacturing tour of Ireland with a visit to Rev1 Precision Engineering, exploring how advanced CAD/CAM technology, AI and continued investment in skills are supporting the production of complex aerospace components.

Following the first day at Verus Metrology Partners, the MTDCNC team travelled to Rev1 Precision Engineering for the final stop of the tour, sitting down with Gerard Farrelly and David Kearns to learn more about the business, its capabilities and the role Mastercam plays within its manufacturing operation.

Producing complex components for the aerospace sector demands exceptional levels of precision, consistency and process control. During the visit, Gerard and David discussed how Mastercam supports Rev1 in meeting those challenges, while giving the team the flexibility and programming capability required to manufacture increasingly sophisticated components.

One of the key topics explored was the continued development of Mastercam’s technology, including Mastercam Copilot AI and how emerging AI-driven functionality could support programmers and engineers in their day-to-day work.

The conversation also highlighted the importance of developing skills alongside technology. Through resources such as Mastercam University, manufacturers can provide engineers and programmers with access to training that helps them expand their knowledge, develop new capabilities and get more from the software.

The visit offered a fascinating insight into the combination of people, processes and technology required to succeed in demanding industries such as aerospace. What may look effortless on the shop floor is the result of considerable engineering expertise, investment and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Rev1 Precision Engineering represents exactly the type of advanced manufacturing capability this Ireland tour set out to showcase. Across both days, MTDCNC has seen first-hand the ambition, technical expertise and investment driving Irish manufacturing forward.

The tour also demonstrated the role Mastercam UK & Ireland plays in supporting manufacturers beyond the software itself, from CAD/CAM and advanced programming strategies to training, technical expertise and ongoing customer support.

MTDCNC would like to thank Gerard Farrelly, David Kearns and the entire Rev1 Precision Engineering team for their hospitality and for sharing their experiences on camera.

A special thank you also goes to Ciaran Fletchmoore and everyone at Mastercam UK & Ireland for making the tour possible and helping MTDCNC tell the stories of manufacturers pushing the boundaries of engineering across Ireland.

With companies such as Rev1 Precision Engineering continuing to invest in technology, skills and advanced manufacturing capabilities, the future of Irish manufacturing is looking incredibly strong.

The full videos from the Ireland tour will be released soon across MTDCNC channels.
