ZF Group India Secures Major Government Orders for Advanced Automotive Testing Systems!
ZF Group India has secured three significant contracts to supply advanced automotive testing systems to government-backed vehicle testing agencies, further strengthening its position as a leading technology partner in India’s rapidly evolving automotive certification and safety ecosystem. The orders encompass battery testing, tyre testing and e-axle testing solutions, reflecting the country’s increasing emphasis on stricter vehicle safety regulations, electric mobility and globally benchmarked testing infrastructure. The projects also underscore ZF’s growing contribution to India’s automotive sector by delivering advanced engineering solutions that support regulatory compliance, product validation and next-generation mobility technologies.
The contracts have been awarded by three independent automotive testing organizations operating under national initiatives supported by the Government of India, including the National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRiP) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). The achievement marks an important milestone for ZF’s testing systems business in India, demonstrating strong confidence in the company’s technical expertise across multiple automotive testing disciplines. The projects are also aligned with the Government’s “Make in India” initiative, with ZF incorporating a high level of local value addition while supporting the development of world-class automotive testing infrastructure within the country.
Commenting on the achievement, Akash Passey, President of ZF Group India, said the company is proud to contribute to the technical foundation that supports world-class vehicle safety certification in India. He noted that being selected by three independent government testing agencies across multiple technology domains reflects the reliability, precision and engineering excellence of ZF’s testing systems. According to Passey, the contracts reinforce the company’s commitment to supporting India’s automotive industry as it transitions toward higher safety standards and advanced mobility technologies.
Thomas Trebitsch, Vice President of ZF Test Systems and Testing, highlighted India’s rapid progress toward stricter automotive regulations and enhanced safety requirements. He stated that the company’s global expertise, combined with its deep understanding of the Indian automotive market, enables ZF to deliver highly advanced testing technologies that meet evolving industry expectations while supporting manufacturers in achieving regulatory compliance and product quality objectives.
One of the major components of the new contracts involves comprehensive battery testing systems designed for electric vehicle applications. ZF’s solutions cover the complete battery validation process, from individual battery cells and modules to fully assembled battery packs. The systems support extensive performance evaluation, endurance testing, environmental simulations and mechanical abuse testing while complying with both international and Indian standards, including UL, IEC, UN, IS and LV124 specifications. In addition to research and validation activities, the systems also support end-of-line production testing, enabling manufacturers to strengthen quality assurance throughout the battery manufacturing process.
The company will also supply its advanced Tyre Efficiency Tester platform, designed to evaluate rolling resistance, tyre uniformity and overall tyre performance with exceptional precision. The testing technology supports compliance with emerging Indian regulations related to tyre safety, fuel efficiency and tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS). Capable of testing passenger vehicles, motorcycles and commercial vehicles, the platform provides manufacturers and testing agencies with accurate, repeatable data that supports product development, certification and regulatory approval.
Through these strategic contracts, ZF Group India is playing a significant role in strengthening the country’s automotive testing and certification capabilities at a time when electric mobility, vehicle safety and regulatory compliance are becoming increasingly important. By combining global engineering expertise with local manufacturing and technical support, the company continues to contribute to the development of a modern automotive ecosystem that meets international standards while supporting India’s ambition to become a global hub for advanced automotive manufacturing and mobility innovation.
