Kongsberg Automotive(LinkedIn) Kongsberg Automotive (KA) has announced the consolidation of its operations in China into its manufacturing facility and technology center in Wuxi, a move aimed at strengthening competitiveness, improving operational efficiency and supporting long-term growth in one of the world’s largest automotive markets. The restructuring follows the company’s acquisition of full ownership of Kongsberg Automotive Morse Shanghai in 2025. By bringing operations under a unified structure, the company is creating a more streamlined organization capable of responding more effectively to evolving customer requirements and market opportunities.

Under the consolidation plan, production activities and support functions currently operating across multiple locations will be centralized in Wuxi. As part of the transition, operations in Shanghai and Shiyan will be gradually phased out, with the process expected to conclude by the end of May 2026. Following completion of the integration, the Kongsberg Automotive Morse Shanghai legal entity will be formally deregistered.

Company leaders view the consolidation as an important step in optimizing the organization’s footprint while enhancing strategic control and governance within the Chinese market. The initiative is expected to create a stronger foundation for innovation, operational agility and customer support.

The Wuxi facility will serve as an integrated manufacturing and technology hub, bringing together engineering expertise, production capabilities and technical resources under one location. This structure is expected to deliver several key benefits, including improved cost competitiveness, stronger engineering capabilities and greater flexibility in serving automotive customers across the region.

China remains a critical market for global vehicle manufacturers and suppliers, particularly as the industry accelerates investments in electrification, intelligent mobility and advanced vehicle technologies. Kongsberg Automotive believes the new structure will position the company to respond more effectively to these trends while supporting future expansion opportunities. The company has stated that the transition will be carried out responsibly and in accordance with local regulations, with careful consideration for employees, customers and other stakeholders affected by the changes.

Kongsberg Automotive supplies advanced technologies to the global automotive industry, with a portfolio that includes driver and motion control systems, fluid transfer assemblies and industrial driver interface products. The company’s solutions support vehicle performance, safety and efficiency across a broad range of passenger and commercial vehicle applications.
