General Tool Company has announced a significant expansion of its manufacturing operations in Cincinnati, Ohio, reinforcing its commitment to supporting critical defense programs while strengthening its position as a leading provider of precision manufacturing and engineering services. The company is investing $8.5 million in the project, which is expected to create 47 new jobs and significantly increase production capacity for key naval power-generation systems.

The expansion comes as demand continues to grow for advanced defense manufacturing capabilities and reflects General Tool’s strategic focus on supporting mission-critical applications for the aerospace, defense, energy, and industrial sectors. The investment will enhance the company’s ability to manufacture highly complex components and assemblies while contributing to the resilience of the U.S. defense supply chain.

A primary objective of the project is to increase production capacity for the Rolls-Royce AG9160RF gas turbine generator set, a critical power-generation system used aboard the U.S. Navy’s Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers. These vessels represent one of the most important classes of warships in the U.S. Navy fleet, serving a vital role in air defense, missile defense, anti-submarine warfare, and multi-mission naval operations around the world.

Through the facility expansion, General Tool will be able to increase production output from supporting two ships annually to three ships per year. This represents a substantial boost in manufacturing capability and will help meet the ongoing requirements of the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer program, which remains a cornerstone of U.S. naval modernization efforts.

The AG9160RF gas turbine generator set plays a critical role in providing electrical power to the ship’s onboard systems. Reliable power generation is essential for supporting advanced radar systems, communications equipment, weapons platforms, navigation systems, and other mission-critical technologies that enable the destroyers to operate effectively in complex maritime environments.

The expansion highlights the increasingly important role of domestic manufacturers in supporting national defense initiatives. As military programs demand higher production rates and more advanced technologies, investments in manufacturing infrastructure are becoming essential to maintaining supply chain readiness and operational effectiveness.

General Tool has built a strong reputation as a trusted partner for customers requiring highly specialized manufacturing solutions. The company offers expertise in precision machining, complex fabrication, assembly, integration, and engineering services for applications where quality, reliability, and performance are paramount. Its capabilities support some of the most demanding programs across aerospace, defense, energy, and industrial markets.

The new investment will not only expand production capacity but also create 47 new employment opportunities in the Cincinnati region. These positions are expected to include skilled manufacturing roles, engineering professionals, quality assurance specialists, technicians, and support personnel. The project will contribute to local economic growth while helping develop a highly skilled workforce capable of supporting advanced manufacturing operations.

In addition to supporting defense programs, the expansion demonstrates the continued strength of U.S. manufacturing and the growing need for precision engineering expertise. As industries increasingly rely on complex systems and advanced technologies, manufacturers like General Tool play a critical role in delivering the high-quality components and assemblies required for reliable performance in demanding environments.

The investment also reflects broader trends in the defense and aerospace sectors, where supply chain resilience, domestic production capacity, and technological capability have become top priorities. Expanding manufacturing infrastructure enables companies to respond more effectively to customer requirements while ensuring the timely delivery of mission-critical systems.

By increasing production capacity and investing in workforce growth, General Tool is positioning itself to support future opportunities in defense, aerospace, and industrial manufacturing. The project underscores the company’s long-term commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and customer success.

As the expansion moves forward, General Tool will strengthen its role as a key contributor to America’s defense industrial base while continuing to deliver precision-engineered solutions that support some of the nation’s most important aerospace and defense programs.
