Royal Enfield Announces Proposed ₹2,500 Crore Greenfield Manufacturing Expansion in Andhra Pradesh!
Royal Enfield has announced plans to establish a new greenfield manufacturing facility in Tada near Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, as part of its long-term expansion strategy aimed at supporting rising domestic and global demand for its motorcycles. The company plans to invest approximately ₹2,500 crore in the proposed project, which will be implemented in phases subject to board approvals and future market demand conditions.
The planned facility is expected to significantly strengthen Royal Enfield’s manufacturing network in southern India while enhancing production capacity to support the company’s continued growth across international and domestic markets. The expansion reflects the increasing demand for mid-size motorcycles globally and Royal Enfield’s growing position as a major player in the premium motorcycle segment.
According to the company, its current annual production capacity stands at nearly 14.6 lakh motorcycles, with existing facilities operating close to full utilization. The proposed Andhra Pradesh facility is therefore expected to play a key role in supporting future production requirements and long-term business expansion.
Earlier in 2026, Royal Enfield had also announced an investment of ₹958 crore for capacity expansion at its Cheyyar manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu. Once that expansion is completed, the company’s total annual manufacturing capacity is expected to increase to nearly 20 lakh motorcycles, highlighting the scale of Royal Enfield’s ongoing manufacturing growth plans.
B Govindarajan, Managing Director of Eicher Motors Limited and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Enfield, stated that the company’s philosophy has always focused on maintaining close engagement with its global riding community while delivering world-class products and ownership experiences.
He explained that the proposed Andhra Pradesh investment will support Royal Enfield’s next phase of growth while strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and operational footprint in India. Govindarajan also acknowledged the support extended by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and emphasized the company’s expanding presence within the state.
Royal Enfield currently maintains more than 100 retail and service touchpoints across Andhra Pradesh and has already generated over 1,200 direct and indirect employment opportunities in the region. The proposed greenfield facility is expected to further contribute to industrial development, employment generation, and supply chain growth in the state.
At present, Royal Enfield operates four manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu and has developed a growing global production and assembly network. The company currently operates seven CKD (Completely Knocked Down) assembly units in international markets including Bangladesh, Nepal, Brazil, Thailand, Argentina, and Colombia. This international manufacturing strategy supports localized assembly operations while helping the company strengthen its global market presence.
Royal Enfield also operates two major technical and engineering centres located in Chennai, India, and Bruntingthorpe in the United Kingdom. These facilities support product development, engineering innovation, testing, and global motorcycle platform development.
The company has continued to witness strong growth in both domestic and export markets. During FY2026, Royal Enfield crossed global sales of 1.2 million motorcycles, marking the second consecutive year in which the company exceeded the one-million-unit sales milestone. The achievement further reinforces Royal Enfield’s leadership position in the mid-size motorcycle segment.
In addition to sales growth, the company has also received strong recognition in customer and dealer satisfaction studies. Royal Enfield secured leading positions in industry evaluations including the J.D. Power India Two-Wheeler Initial Quality Study and the FADA Dealer Satisfaction Survey, reflecting continued improvements in product quality, customer experience, and dealer network performance.
The proposed Andhra Pradesh manufacturing project highlights Royal Enfield’s long-term confidence in India’s growing motorcycle market and the expanding global demand for premium mid-size motorcycles. The expansion also aligns with broader trends in the automotive industry, where manufacturers are increasing investments in production capacity, localization, export infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing capabilities to support future growth opportunities.
