FANUC UK recently hosted the six finalists of the Design Innovation in Plastics competition at its Coventry facility. This event, conducted in partnership with Sierra 57 Consult Ltd, provided an intensive four-day injection moulding training programme.

Participants from Aston University, Brunel University, Coventry University, and Nottingham Trent University engaged in the training, which offered invaluable insights into polymer materials, processing, and real-world manufacturing techniques. The course aimed to equip students with practical skills relevant to the industry.

Andy Armstrong, Managing Director of FANUC UK, emphasised the importance of such collaborations in developing future talent for the plastics sector. He stated, “Working with Sierra 57 allows us to deliver truly industry-relevant training. Initiatives like Design Innovation in Plastics play a vital role in developing the next generation of designers and engineers.”

The training is part of FANUC UK’s commitment to fostering new skills and knowledge among up-and-coming engineers, providing them with the tools necessary for their future careers. The company’s support for the finalists is hoped to have a lasting impact as they progress to the final stage of the competition.
