Mahindra & Mahindra has achieved a major global milestone by securing the 25th position in the latest Automotive Industry 2026 rankings by Brand Finance. The company’s brand value has grown by an impressive 17% year-on-year to reach USD 3.8 billion, underlining its rising influence in the global automotive landscape. With a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 86.5 out of 100 and an AAA rating, Mahindra is now ranked as the eighth strongest automobile brand worldwide—marking a significant leap for an Indian OEM on the global stage.

This achievement reflects a broader shift in the global automotive industry, where Indian manufacturers are increasingly gaining recognition not just for scale or affordability, but for innovation, brand strength, and global competitiveness. The total global automotive brand value now stands at USD 575.4 billion, highlighting the intense competition and rapid evolution within the sector.

Mahindra’s growth has been largely driven by its strong focus on SUVs and its expanding electric vehicle (EV) portfolio. Popular models like the Scorpio, along with the company’s growing EV lineup, have contributed to sustained demand and profitability. Its ability to combine robust product offerings with an expanding distribution network has strengthened its position both domestically and in international markets.

Alongside Mahindra, other Indian automotive brands have also demonstrated strong performance. Royal Enfield emerged as the third strongest automobile brand globally, achieving a BSI score of 88.9 and recording a 30% increase in brand value to USD 1.2 billion. Its enduring appeal as a lifestyle brand, combined with a growing global footprint, continues to drive demand for its iconic motorcycles.

Tata Motors also delivered a strong showing, with a brand value of USD 3.3 billion and a top-five global ranking in brand strength, supported by its AAA rating. The company’s focus on sustainability and electric mobility has enhanced its ESG perception, positioning it as a forward-looking automotive player.

Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki climbed to 34th position globally, with its brand value increasing by 9% to USD 2.7 billion. Known for its reliability and strong consumer trust, the company continues to dominate the domestic passenger vehicle market while steadily building its global reputation.

Other Indian brands such as Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp, TVS Motor Company, and Ashok Leyland also featured in the rankings, reflecting a broad-based improvement in India’s automotive ecosystem.

According to industry insights, this year’s rankings highlight a clear transformation in how Indian automotive brands are perceived globally. They are increasingly building strong, differentiated identities driven by product innovation, EV ambitions, and deeper consumer trust. As these companies continue to scale internationally and invest in advanced technologies, India is rapidly emerging as a significant force in the global automotive industry.

Mahindra’s entry into the global top 25 is not just a milestone for the company but a signal of India’s growing credibility and competitiveness in the global automotive arena.
