Castings Technology, based in Rotherham, has announced significant defence contracts worth over £9 million. Recognised as the only structural titanium foundry in the UK and the largest in Europe, the company has been chosen by a leading UK manufacturer to supply components for defence systems aiding Ukraine.
These orders comprise both renewed business and new components. The foundry’s unique capability to produce large structural titanium castings played a crucial role in securing the contracts. Previously manufactured in the United States, these components include demanding specifications, with some exceeding two metres in length and requiring intricate thin-wall and thick-wall investment casting techniques.
The company boasts producing some of the highest-integrity titanium castings globally, a key factor in its selection for these contracts. The demand for such specialised components underscores the strategic importance of Castings Technology’s operations in the UK’s manufacturing landscape.
In preparation for increased demand, Castings Technology is set to expand its operations with a new 200,000 sq ft facility in Sheffield. The £18 million investment aims to enhance its advanced manufacturing capacity, reinforcing its position as a leader in the industry.
Founded with a focus on innovation, Castings Technology continues to set benchmarks in titanium casting. With its new facility, the company is poised to further its contribution to industrial manufacturing and defence sectors.
