The Solid Model Import capability allows operators to load .STEP solid models directly into the Hurco control, significantly simplifying the process of programming complex parts.

Traditionally, creating programs for multi-sided machining can require extensive manual data entry and setup. Hurco’s new functionality removes much of that complexity by allowing machinists to work directly from the customer’s 3D model.

Once a model is imported into the control, the system automatically generates the transform planes required for 5-sided machining. Operators can then select the specific features they want to machine, such as the floor and top of a pocket, while the control calculates the machining depth directly from the model geometry.

This streamlined workflow delivers several key benefits for manufacturers:

  • Faster programming at the machine
  • Reduced manual data input
  • Improved accuracy when machining complex components

By enabling machinists to move directly from a digital model to machining strategy, Hurco continues to strengthen its reputation for intuitive conversational programming designed for real-world shop floor environments.

The Solid Model Import feature demonstrates how smarter control technology can help remove friction between design, programming and finished part production, enabling manufacturers to achieve greater efficiency and precision in modern machining operations.
