Hisense has inaugurated its first manufacturing facility in India at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, marking a major milestone in its long-term expansion strategy. The plant has been established through a joint venture with Epack Manufacturing Technologies Private Limited (EMTPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Epack Durable Limited. The move reinforces Hisense’s commitment to local manufacturing under the Government of India’s Make in India initiative.

Located within Epack Durable’s industrial park at Sri City, the new Hisense (EMTPL) facility spans a 10-acre campus and is situated adjacent to EDL’s existing ODM manufacturing plant. Developed with an investment exceeding USD 30 million, the facility represents a significant advancement in Hisense’s localization and supply chain integration efforts. Commercial production is scheduled to commence in February 2026.

In its first operational phase, the plant will exclusively manufacture Room Air Conditioners (RACs) for Hisense India, accounting for 100 percent of the brand’s RAC production in the country. Phase 1 has an installed capacity of 0.75 million units annually. The manufacturing lineup will include key models from Hisense’s global portfolio, such as the F-Series, Eco Series, Intelli Perla Series and the upcoming Intelli Pro Series.

The Sri City facility is being developed in a phased manner to progressively expand its product range. Phase 2, planned for Q2 FY27, will introduce washing machine production across both top-load and front-load segments. Phase 3, expected in Q3 FY27, will add LED television manufacturing. This structured rollout highlights Hisense’s objective of building a comprehensive consumer durables manufacturing ecosystem in India.

The facility currently employs around 500 professionals and is projected to generate employment for nearly 1,500 individuals over the next 12 to 24 months. Recruitment is underway across multiple functions, including supply chain management, finance, administration, technical operations and skilled production roles.

The plant will serve both domestic and export markets, enabling improved market responsiveness, optimized distribution networks and reduced import dependence. By strengthening local production capabilities, Hisense aims to enhance cost efficiencies and maintain competitive pricing within India’s expanding consumer durables market.

Pankaj Rana, CEO of Hisense India, described the inauguration as a transformative step in the company’s India journey. He stated that the Sri City plant strengthens local manufacturing capabilities, improves control over quality and supply chains and provides a strong platform for scaling operations while tailoring products to Indian consumer needs.

Ajay Singhania, Managing Director and CEO of Epack Durable, emphasized that the partnership combines Hisense’s global technological expertise with Epack Durable’s manufacturing strengths. He noted that the collaboration aligns with international production standards while showcasing India’s manufacturing capabilities globally.

Previously operating primarily through imports and partner-supported manufacturing, Hisense’s new Sri City facility signals a strategic shift toward a fully integrated local manufacturing model. This development positions the company for sustained growth aligned with evolving market demand and long-term strategic objectives in India.
