JSW Steel recorded consolidated crude steel production of 24.75 lakh tonnes in January 2026, reflecting stable output despite temporary capacity constraints at its Indian operations and a planned outage at its US facility.

Production from Indian operations was marginally higher compared to the same period last year. However, overall output was impacted by the ongoing shutdown of Blast Furnace 3 at the Vijayanagar facility. The furnace has been under maintenance and capacity enhancement since September 2025 and is expected to be recommissioned by the end of the fourth quarter of FY26.

The temporary shutdown influenced capacity utilisation levels during the month. Excluding Blast Furnace 3, utilisation across Indian operations stood at approximately 93 percent, indicating strong operational efficiency across the remaining units. When including the inactive furnace, overall utilisation was around 85 percent.

In the United States, production at the company’s Ohio operations was lower due to a planned outage for caster upgrades carried out between mid-December 2025 and mid-January 2026. The maintenance activity was part of ongoing efforts to improve operational capability and long-term performance at the facility.

JSW Steel is the flagship company of the USD 23 billion JSW Group, which operates across sectors including steel, energy, infrastructure, cement, paints, real estate, defence, mobility and digital platforms. Over the past three decades, the company has grown from a single manufacturing plant into India’s leading integrated steel producer.

The company currently has a consolidated crude steel capacity of 35.7 million tonnes per annum, including 1.5 MTPA in the United States. Domestic capacity stands at 34.2 MTPA. As part of its long-term growth strategy, JSW Steel plans to expand consolidated capacity to 48.9 MTPA over the next four years, reinforcing its position in both domestic and international markets.

Despite temporary operational adjustments, the January 2026 production figures reflect continued momentum in JSW Steel’s manufacturing operations as it progresses with capacity enhancement and modernization initiatives.
