Tata Technologies has announced that its battery intelligence platform, WATTSync, is fully prepared to support India’s upcoming Battery Aadhaar digital identity and traceability framework. The platform is also aligned with the European Union’s Battery Regulation (EU BR 2023/1542), positioning it to address regulatory, sustainability and compliance requirements across both domestic and global markets.

As India moves toward implementing a QR-code-based national system for battery identification and lifecycle tracking, WATTSync is designed to provide manufacturers and ecosystem participants with a comprehensive digital infrastructure for battery traceability. The platform supports the mandated 21-character Battery Pack Aadhaar Number, enabling generation, management and integration of unique battery identifiers throughout manufacturing, operational use and end-of-life stages.

At the core of WATTSync is a QR-enabled digital identity engine that facilitates secure access to both static and dynamic battery data. This capability supports authentication, verification and interoperability with international battery passport systems, ensuring compliance with global reporting standards.

The platform’s data architecture accommodates all prescribed Battery Aadhaar fields, including manufacturer information, battery specifications, material composition, chemistry details and carbon footprint metrics. Built for scalability, WATTSync integrates directly with Battery Management Systems to capture real-time performance data such as state of health, charge-discharge cycles, thermal events and operational parameters. Its cloud-ready, microservices-based design supports high-volume data processing and real-time analytics, meeting the reporting and transparency expectations of both Indian authorities and European regulators.

To strengthen oversight and traceability, WATTSync enables secure, API-driven data exchange with government-authorised digital infrastructure. A built-in Battery Lifecycle Manager tracks batteries across their full lifecycle, from production to reuse, recycling and final disposal. Role-based access controls ensure that manufacturers, suppliers, operators, recyclers, regulators and auditors have structured and secure data visibility tailored to their responsibilities.

The platform also incorporates AI-enabled analytics to support safety monitoring, lifecycle prediction and performance risk assessment. These capabilities align with India’s circular economy objectives and support transparent, fraud-resistant battery supply chains under initiatives such as the ACC-PLI scheme.

With WATTSync positioned to meet both India’s Battery Aadhaar framework and European regulatory requirements, Tata Technologies aims to provide a scalable digital backbone for compliant, sustainable and globally integrated battery ecosystems.
