Safran is set to open its first Research and Technology Centre outside of France, marking a pivotal expansion in the United Kingdom. This move is part of Safran’s broader strategy to bolster its presence and research endeavors globally.
The UK has been a significant part of Safran’s operations for over 90 years, with a foundation strengthened by strategic acquisitions including Collins Aerospace’s actuation and flight control businesses. This expansion has elevated Safran to the third-largest civil aerospace player in the UK, employing over 5,500 people across 14 sites and generating annual revenues of £1.5 billion.
Safran’s UK operations encompass a comprehensive range of civil and military aviation products such as aircraft landing gear, seats, actuators and flight controls, nacelles, helicopter engines, and electrical equipment. The new centre will enhance Safran’s capabilities from research and technology to maintenance and MRO services.
Building on its longstanding presence, Safran’s investment reflects its commitment to innovation and excellence in aerospace technologies. The establishment of the Research and Technology Centre will further integrate Safran’s activities in design, engineering, and manufacturing, cementing its role as a leader in aerospace solutions.
