ZEISS Expands Presence with New Quality Excellence Center in Hyderabad!

ZEISS, a global leader in precision optics and metrology, has opened its seventh Quality Excellence Center (QEC) in Hyderabad, further strengthening its presence in India’s growing aerospace and high-technology manufacturing landscape. The new 4,500-square-foot facility, with an additional 1,500 square feet reserved for future expansion, highlights ZEISS’s continued investment in precision measurement, quality control, and industrial automation. The center was inaugurated in the presence of Praveen PA, Director of Aerospace, Defense, and Logistics, Government of Telangana, along with senior leadership from ZEISS India.

At the inauguration, Aveen Padmaprabha, Business Head – Industrial Quality Solutions, ZEISS India & Neighboring Markets, highlighted the increasing importance of automation and digitalization in driving the next phase of industrial growth. “Automation and Industry 4.0 go hand in hand — that’s where the future of manufacturing lies,” he stated. He added that Hyderabad’s strategic position, supported by a strong aerospace base and a rapidly emerging medical device ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh, makes it an ideal location for ZEISS’s new technology hub.

The Hyderabad QEC has been designed around the principles of Quality 4.0 and Manufacturing 4.0, integrating ZEISS PiWEB software and AI-driven capabilities to support smarter, more efficient operations. The facility will showcase the company’s complete range of metrology and inspection systems, including coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), surface and form measurement equipment, 3D scanners, X-ray systems, and associated software and services. For aerospace applications, the center features ZEISS PRISMO CMM with rotary measurement for turbine blades and ZEISS Aerofoil software — technologies known for delivering unmatched accuracy and productivity.

Speaking at the event, Praveen PA noted Telangana’s growing role as a global hub for aerospace and advanced manufacturing. “Aerospace investments are a top priority for Telangana. With major global OEMs choosing Hyderabad as their base, ZEISS’s decision to establish a technology hub here reinforces our capabilities in manufacturing and innovation,” he said.

Beyond being a showcase and support center, the new QEC will serve as an open innovation platform for industry, academia, and startups. It will offer pay-per-use access to state-of-the-art equipment, enabling smaller manufacturers and research institutions to benefit from world-class technology. The center is also expected to drive collaborative research and development efforts aligned with Telangana’s vision of becoming a global manufacturing and innovation powerhouse.

ZEISS’s investment in Hyderabad underscores its commitment to India’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ missions. With southern India witnessing rapid industrial growth — aerospace and advanced manufacturing sectors growing nearly fivefold and electronics manufacturing expanding tenfold — the new facility is positioned to play a key role in advancing quality, precision, and technological excellence in the region.

Globally, ZEISS reported €10.9 billion in revenue last fiscal year, operating across four key business segments: Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Quality & Research, Medical Technology, and Consumer Markets. The company continues to pioneer advancements in metrology, optics, and medical diagnostics, investing nearly 15% of its annual revenue into research and development. Through initiatives like the Hyderabad QEC, ZEISS reinforces its vision of enabling smarter, more sustainable manufacturing for the industries of the future.
