Hindustan Construction Company Ltd (HCC) has entered into a landmark partnership with Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd (KRCL) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at jointly executing major rail and multi-modal transport infrastructure projects across India and international markets. This strategic alliance represents a powerful synergy between two industry leaders—combining HCC’s proven expertise in complex civil engineering and project execution with KRCL’s technical proficiency in railway systems, operations, and infrastructure development.
The collaboration is designed to deliver end-to-end transport infrastructure solutions that encompass every stage of project execution, including civil works, track laying, electrification, signalling, mechanical systems, and long-term maintenance. Together, HCC and KRCL will focus on some of the most challenging and high-impact projects in the sector, such as underground and elevated metro systems, NATM (New Austrian Tunnelling Method) tunnels, large rail bridges, and comprehensive turnkey EPC contracts.
The MoU also paves the way for joint participation in diverse business models such as EPC, design-build, item-rate contracts, and Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). Depending on project requirements, the partnership allows for the creation of joint ventures or consortia to enhance flexibility and efficiency in project delivery.
Commenting on the collaboration, Arjun Dhawan, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of HCC, said, “This partnership reflects our commitment to working collaboratively with public-sector organizations to deliver technically demanding and high-impact infrastructure projects. By aligning our capabilities with those of KRCL, we aim to expand our footprint in both domestic and international markets, while building integrated and future-ready transport systems.”
Echoing this sentiment, Santosh Kumar Jha, Chairman and Managing Director of KRCL, stated, “We are delighted to join hands with HCC to undertake projects of national and global significance. Our combined strengths will enable us to tackle complex assignments efficiently and contribute meaningfully to the creation of modern, resilient transport networks.”
This alliance is expected to unlock new opportunities for both organizations while advancing the broader objective of developing sustainable, efficient, and technologically advanced transportation infrastructure. The partnership also aligns with India’s vision of strengthening regional and international connectivity through world-class engineering and construction standards.
With nearly a century of engineering excellence, HCC has been instrumental in delivering several of India’s landmark infrastructure projects. The company has contributed to the construction of 26% of India’s hydroelectric capacity and 60% of its nuclear power capacity. Its extensive portfolio includes more than 4,000 lane kilometers of highways, 400 kilometers of tunnels, and over 400 bridges, establishing HCC as a trusted name in transportation, power, and water infrastructure development.
Through this collaboration with KRCL, HCC reinforces its position as a key player in shaping the future of transport infrastructure—both in India and globally—by integrating innovation, sustainability, and engineering excellence.
